Fall Is Here
Fall is finally here! With that comes to a close yet another cycle of growth, existence, and dormancy. Our hearts sadden a bit with shorter days and falling leaves. But we quickly brighten once again with the holidays ahead and knowing that a new opportunity isn’t far with a new year ahead! Now I must also add that leaves aren’t the only thing that’s falling.. so is hair!
With shedding season now in full swing, extra hair can be expected in combs, brushes and on the shower floor. This can be stressful for some of us, especially those challenged with diffused and inevitable hereditary hair loss. Seasonal hair loss not to be confused with Telogen Effluvium. This a scalp disorder characterized by the thinning or shedding of hair resulting from early entry of hair in the telogen phase /resting phase of the hair follicle. Unlike seasonal shedding, which occurs naturally, Telogen Effluvium is brought on by emotional and physiological stress. Seasonal shedding occurs up to 2 times a year, typically in the Spring and Fall lasting about 4-6 weeks. Hair’s circular pattern has an active-growth, transition, and resting phase. Then back to the active growth phase.
Help is On the Way!
Just like Fall, shedding season may have you a bit longing. No pun intended “Rapunzels”! But also has its opportunities for a brighter, new beginning with the opportunity for new stronger hair. You can take advantage of conditioning and scalp treatments. One being the “Residue On Scalp Treatment”. This service encourages and helps move along the natural shedding process. This service removes dead hairs lodged by product buildup or excessive sebum that clogs the follicle and follicle funnels preventing new aspiring hairs from coming in. This not only rids the scalp of product build up and scaly residue, but it also promotes healthy blood flow to the dermal papillae. The blood vessels in the dermal papillae nourish all hair follicles promoting a healthy bulb leading to stronger, beautiful hair strands!
